Rachael Errington; illustrator.
Rachael grew up reading Roald Dahl’s children’s stories; illustrated by Quentin Blake. (www.roalddahl.com). It was both the writer and the illustrator who influenced her direction as she thought about a career path - in particular the chapter outlining the benefits of “Frobscottle and Whizzpopping” in the BFG.
With that in mind, she attended Herefordshire College of Art and Design (affiliated with Birmingham University), to complete a BA Hons in Illustration. This opened the door to all sorts of mixed media opportunities, paving the way for Rachael’s varied ways of working.
Her first ‘arty’ published illustrations were for a poetry book in England. Rachael’s first children’s book illustrations to be published were in New Zealand, where she illustrated “Mixed up Muddled up Jack” written by Scott Townsend. Rachael loves to illustrate children’s books, and is currently working on two other projects which will be published next year.
